Apples and Oranges?: Recruiting Indigenous Mexicans to Divide Farm Labor Markets in the Western US

Author: Krissman, F.
Date Published: 2002

This article discusses the presence of indigenous workers among migrant farmworkers of the Western US. It particularly discusses the role of mestizos vs indigenous (Mixtec and Purepecha) Mexican migrants. The paper concludes that this study of ethnic replacement supports "labor demand" theory as the best explanation for the persistence of large-scale migrant flows such as those from Mexico to the US.
