Excavations (Excavaciones)

Author: Oregon OSHA

This is a bilingual training manual for employers with Hispanic workers that discusses the major risks present at excavation sites, meant to reduce the number of workers who die each year at excavation sites. It includes photos and explanations of excavation hazards, usually involving large machinery and ditches or caves, and lists the general requirements in these situations. Next is a soil class identification system and discussions on how to work in each of these. Then photos of correct protective systems are shown and ends with a glossary of terms, in English and Spanish. This manual also includes a tailgate and overhead materials.
