Outbreak of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis - Texas, California, and Pennsylvania

This article describes a 1986 case of mutlidrug-resistant TB in Texas, California and Pennsylvania. On January 9, 1986, a 30-year old black man presented to a hospital emergency room with an illness of 2 months' duration. In March 1987, he died of postoperative complications of a right pneumonectomy. Investigation revealed that the patient had been a close contact of four persons.
