This article examines the relationship between loneliness and HIV/AIDS through individual determinants with limited consideration of social context such as the association of having sexual intercourse in the "new" social context to be coping with the initial loneliness of the labor migration experience. A 2-year ethnographic study [study of ethnic cultures] of Mexican migrants workers was conducted in New York City; the data collection methods were structured interviews, life history interviews and ethnographic observations.
