This is the report from the Lower Rio Grande Valley Regional Farmworker Housing Summit held in Weslaco, Texas, March 24 & 25, 2011. Concerns, issues and idea's identified during the two day summit were: 1. Difficulty to identify the farmworker market 2. # of farmworker units available in the LRGV 3. Farmworker do not self-identify as farmworkers 4. Cuts in USDA Rural Development Federal Funding 5. State (SB 825) & Future of HTF 6. Disaster Relief 7. Migrant Charrettes 8. Modifications to TDHCA programs to better serve farmworkers 9. Allow HOME and & HTF to serve farmworkers in urban areas 10. HUD Section 3 Requirements
