Addressing Child Maltreatment in the Migrant Population

Author: NCFH
Date Published: 2009

Presented by Lambert, MD of the University of Miami Child Protection Team, this training provides a historical overview of child abuse, the state statutes regarding the reporting of suspicion of abuse/neglect and a discussion of the factors that place children at risk for maltreatment. At the end of this session, the participant should understand the responsibility to report child abuse; recognize injury patterns that are suspicious as abuse injuries; be conscious of varying risk factors common in maltreating families; have a greater understanding regarding the differences between the criminal and dependency court systems; and understand the impact that drug use has on child abuse victims.
