Promoting the Occupational Health of Indigenous Farmworkers

Author: Farquhar, S.
Date Published: 2008

This article discusses the indigenous migrant farmworker population among Oregon agricultural workers who, because of their intrinsic cultural norms, are classified as linguistically, culturally and geographically isolation. In turn, this brings on new challenges with respect to healthcare and healthcare access. Very often, they suffer from discrimination because they do not speak English or Spanish and are still speakers of their indigenous languages.
