DDT Exposure, Work in Agriculture, and Time to Pregnancy Among Farmworkers in California

Author: Harley, K.G
Date Published: 2008

This article investigates the effects that exposure to pesticides, specifically DDT, has on the length of conception time. Because of the detrimental effects that pesticide exposure has on pregnant women, the question this piece investigates is whether exposure to DDT affects the ability to conceive. 402 farmworker women exposed to pesticide application work reported their pregnancy data. The research article concludes that there was an increase in conception time among women who had occupational exposure, used pesticides in their homes or were living within 200 ft of an agricultural field.
