This study reports the results of a survey of migratory farm labor crew leaders in Maryland, undertaken to explore classification of crews. It seeks to distinguish types of crews differing consistently in such attributes as size; composition; the personal and occupational characteristics of crew leaders; source and recruitment of members; operating and supervisory practices, crew leader attitudes, sanctions for violation of rules; and evidence of social disorganization.
