Diabetes And Cardiovascular Disease In Rural African Americans

This project studied the association of race and rural residence on rates of diagnosis of diabetes and cardiovascular disease and indicators of good medical control among people with diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Findings show that 60 percent of rural African Americans have inadequate diabetic control versus 42 percent of urban whites. Also, more African Americans have diabetic retinopathy than whites.
