Caries Conditions Among 2-5-Year-Old Immigrant Latino Children Related To Parents' Oral Health Knowledge, Opinions And Practices

This study identifies local oral health needs and risks of Latinos of Central American origin, and also designs and facilitates implementation of culturally-appropriate interventions with the participation of community members. Clinical examinations were conducted on children ages 2-5, and findings showed that 47 percent of children experienced carries in their primary teeth and a pattern of moderate to high levels of dental carries, untreated carries and high dental treatment needs.
