This research examines whether personal health information systems can assist underserved people in feeling more in control of their health and feeling healthier. The study conducted is part of a multi-phase research project and describes the steps that can be used by healthcare providers for designing, implementing and evaluating personal health and care management systems. Through interviews with health professionals that work with migrant farmworkers, findings suggest that personal health information systems can serve as a bridge between patients and their healthcare providers.
