This report contains the story of how health facilities were brought to the cotton picking families of the San Joaquin Valley. The first chapter details issues, such as unemployment, hunger, sickness, and health care, among cotton pickers in Fresno County from 1949 to 1955. The next chapter continues on from 1955 to 1960 and describes the failure of other localities to follow in the footsteps of Fresno County. The third chapter details the surprising interest, support and financing that the Advisory Committee on Children and Youth took with the health conditions of farmworking mothers and children from 1960 to 1962.
