Migrant Health Program Current Operations And Additional Needs

Author: Public Health Service
Date Published: 1967

This report, prepared for the Sub-Committee on Migratory Labor, details the living conditions of migrant workers in the U.S. and ways that the migrant health program can improve upon them. After describing migrants' travel patterns, home and work communities and health status, the article reports on the health services provided after the 1962 Migrant Health Act, including services available through grants and projects. Then it reports on the health service deficiencies that need to be improved upon by implementing access to health services in every county where migrants live and work temporarily. Also, it reports a need for increased dental and emergency care for migrants. The report wraps up by outlining the steps taken to meet migrant health program goals and the steps needed to meet even more of the goals.
