A Nursing Services Guidebook: For The Professional Worker Employed By Migrant Health Projects in North Carolina

Author: Nursing Consultant of the North Carolina State Board of Health, Migrant Health Project

This guidebook is meant to inform professional workers involved in migrant health projects in North Carolina on the roles, responsibilities and conduct that their job requires. The guidelines are meant to encourage an improvement in services that professional workers can provide for the migrant agricultural worker. The first section of the guidebook informs possible nurses of the conditions of migrant farmworkers' health and lifestyles, as well as skills necessary in a nurse who works with migrant workers. The next sections elaborate on the skills and training that are desired and accepted of Public Health Nurse I and II, clinic nurse and clinic aide applicants. Daily, weekly and monthly activities are outlined in detail, along with salaries, hours of work and leave policies.
