This study estimates the prevalence of self-reported skin problems among Latino farmworkers and identifies associated risk factors. The study examined skin problems including nail fungus, sunburn, bumps, pimples, acne, calluses, itching, rash, insect bites. A variety of work and environmental factors were associated with higher rates of skin problems. On e of the strongest predictors was working in wet clothes or shoes. The study concluded that farmworkers need programs about ways they can decreases their risk of skin problems. Changes in work practices and personal protective equipment provided could help decrease the prevalence of skin problems.
