Down On The Farm: The Plight of Agricultural Labor

Author: League For Industrial Democracy
Date Published: 1955

This is an excerpt from the booklet: "During the last quarter of a century," which outlines how the lot of the average industrial worker has markedly improved, although he is still faced with many unsolved problems. The same progress has not been made by the agricultural workers of our land. Millions of farm workers today, who labor "from sun to sun," lack much of the essentials of a decent living for themselves and their children. They lack sufficient food, clothing and shelter, enjoy little economic security and are unable to provide for their children proper education health and recreational facilities.
