Evidence indicates that rural individuals are more vulnerable to poor health outcomes and undiagnosed disease. Limited access to health care services resulted in fewer medical visits, under diagnosis, and less optimal health outcomes. Rural and minority populations are particularly vulnerable to the consequences of lower access to care. This project investigated the association of Hispanic ethnicity and rural residence on rates of diagnosis of diabetes and hypertension, indicators of poor medical control among people with these diagnosis.
