Author: Probst., Janice C.
Date Published: 2002

This research study examines health status and health services use, which is measured in physician visits, among poor and minority older adults in non-metro areas. All information comes from an analysis of the 1997 and 1998 National Health Interview Surveys and details on demographics, affect factors are included. The study's findings show that minority older adults living in non-metro areas are a high need population because of they have handicaps, low education and income, and poor health status compared to white adults. Authors call for further research on this population.
