A 1976 study aimed at assessing factors contribuitng to the systematic underreporting of migrant and seasonal farmworker population at the time. The study determines the factors of undocumented workers contributing to the wide discrepany in the MSFW population estimates reported by federal data sources and it also aims to present MSFW population data based on refinements of the current data, which more accurately estimate the numbers of farmworker and dependents in need of federal programs assistance.
