The Governing Board Handbook has been prepared for the Health Resources and Services Administration's Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) supported health center governing board members. This handbook has been designed as an orientation tool to assist new members to understand the structure and responsibilities of a governing board. It also desciribes the characteristics of a health center governing boards that make them unique. We hope that new and experienced board emembers will find the Governing Board Handbook a useful tool.
