Author: Collins, Kimberly; Reyna-Carranza, Marco Antonio

This bilingual study analyzes the impacts of air pollution on the municipality of Mexicali, the capital of the state of Baja California, Mexico. This area is located in the farthest northwest state of the country. It shares the border with the Imperial County, Calif., in the United States. Imperial County is also known as the Imperial Valley. Mexicali and Imperial Valley share the same physical, geographical, and meteorological conditions. These common characteristics provide a situation in which contamination or pollution is shared through a binational airshed and watershed.
