Bilingual cookbook that gives lots of good tasting, heart-healthy Latino recipes. These recipes are family favorites of Latinos working on the Salud para su Corazón project. The goal of this project, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the Office of Research on Minority Health, National Institutes of Health and implemented by the Community Alliance Working for Heart Health, is to help you live a heart-healthy lifestyle. Heart disease is the number one killer of Latin Americans and of all Americans. By making a few simple changes in everyday habits, all of us can help prevent heart attacks and strokes. Some of the changes you need to make are in what you eat. Eating less fat (especially saturated fat), cholesterol, and salt and sodium can make a difference. The following recipes show you how. They use skim milk, small amounts of vegetable oils or margarine, lean cuts of meat, poultry without the skin, fish, beans, fruits, vegetables, and lots of fresh herbs and spices for flavor. Try these recipes. We know they'll become your family's favorites, too
