In the United States, an increasing proportion of women infected with the human immunodefciency virus (HIV) live in nonmetropolitan areas. Little is known, however, about the risk factors for HIV transmission in women outside large cities. This article examines the prevalence of HIV among pregnant women in rural Florida Communities.
