This video discusses an adaptation of the United States Department of Agriculture Food Guide Pyramid, and explores the foods commonly eaten by people of the Mexican descent. The video features a new food pyramid which addresses specific topics such as lifestyle, health issues, and dietary practices unique to Mexican culture. The concept of the Food Guide Pyramid is introduced through the historical significance of pyramids in Mesoamerica. Emphasis is placed on the basic core diet of corn, beans, squash, and chilies, and on the hard work ethic of present and past Latino families. The video also features Mexican market, street, and kitchen scenes which instill a sense of familiarity to the Mexican-American viewer. Available in DVD format.
