Migrant Child Welfare

Author: Cavenaugh, David N.
Date Published: 1977

The goals of child welfare services to migrant families must first be to provide families with supplemental services such as day care, food supplements, health care, emergency assistance, and education, which will help improve the immediate and future economic and social well-being of the migrant child. This study reviews, assesses, and synthesizes the literature concerning child welfare services to migrants. Also, it explores the feasibility of using alternative funding sources to support welfare services to migrants. The study also tries to delineate problem areas that impede service delivery to migrant children without affecting nonimmigrant children.
