A Study on the Migrant, Seasonal and Undocumented Farmworker in Texas

Author: Cruz, L.
Date Published: 1982

This report describes the findings of a study conducted by L. Cruz and Associates whose principal offices are located in Austin, Texas. This study seeks to examine segments of the impacts of manpower on Texas Agriculture and presents some of the ramifications and complexities of agricultural manpower. Our attempt is to address some of the primary sources and sensitivities involved with the farmer, the U.S. migrant and seasonal farmworker and the undocumented farmworker in the context of manpower resources in Texas. Additional study will be required to continue to align Texas' agricultural policies to our growing and shifting manpower needs in this area in the years to come. The project staff combined primary data with secondary data to arrive at certain conclusions. This study is composed of the following five segments: A project description defining the problems and giving an overview of the demands of the study; the general demographic characteristics of migrant, seasonal, and undocumented farmworkers; survey analysis and demographics concerning the following areas: a) farmer, b) U.S. migrant and seasonal farmworker, c) undocumented farmworker; summary and conclusion; and recommendations.
