Fields of Dilemma: The Farm Workers' Story

Author: Riley, Nano
Date Published: 1998

This article discusses a farmworker's life, and what they have to deal with day-to-day, year-to-year. A farmworker, which is typically Mexican, has to deal with pesticides, low wages, child labor, and lack of education. Some have problems regarding their green cards or citizenship. It discusses the agricultural history, and the cycle of shame which the workers go through. The wages the farmworkers receive is comparable to a slave's wage. The farmworkers have had a little success with boycott groups and environmental groups in support of better treatment to the migrant farmworkers.
