The Mexico Border Prevention Program Inventory

Author: Southwest Border Rural Health
Date Published: 2000

The U.S. Mexico Border Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies Program (Border CAPT) developed the program inventory as a tool to identify organizations providing substance abuse prevention services within the U.S.-Mexico border region. The inventory enables the Border CAPT to document what prevention programs are available for border communities, to identify their technical assistance needs, and to familiarize border prevention providers with Border CAPT Services. This report provides a road map of prevention in the Mexico border states. Even more significant, it clarifies the concept of prevention from a Mexican perspective, dispelling common misconceptions of Mexican prevention practices. With the use of this document, the Border CAPT hopes to encourage greater collaboration between U.S. and Mexican organizations.
