Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis

Author: Centers for Disease Control
Date Published: 1991

To address the training needs of health care providers about tuberculosis, the American Thoracic Society and the Division of Tuberculosis Control, Centers for Disease Control launched the National Tuberculosis Training Initiative (NTTI). Input from 22 national medicine and nursing organizations whose constituents have an impact on the care of tuberculosis patients has been a key element in the development of the NTTI. This curriculum was prepared as part of the NTTI in response to the identified need for a document containing basic information bout tuberculosis which could be useful in developing educational programs on tuberculosis for health care professionals. It is also intended for use as a reference manual for physicians caring for persons with or at high risk for tuberculosis infection. It is not meant to provide detailed answers to all public health or clinical questions about tuberculosis.
