1999 marked the 12th anniversary for participants of the East Coast Farmworker Forum and the 9th anniversary for participants of the Midwest and West Coast Forums. Each stream has in place an extensive planning committee structure that works throughout the year to ensure that forum participants have an opportunity to address those issues that are unique to their region as well as to address national issues of concern such as health care financing or physician recruitment issues. These priorities are reflected in the following sections of this publication. Just like funding and health care practices, the stream forums have developed and evolved and changed with the times. As you read the pages of this book you will see that our forums are bigger and more inclusive of topics and people than ever before. Our topics range from the very scientific to the importance of culture and the use of holistic practices such as curanderismo.
