AG-MED: The Rural Practitioner's Guide to Agromedicine: Diagnosis and Management at a Glance

Author: Schuman, Stanley H.
Date Published: 2000

AG-MED is designed to provide a desk reference for the busy family physician on major problems of agriculturally-exposed workers. It does not attempt to deal with all conditions that are encountered in the agricultural environment, only those that present particular challenges to the physician because of differences in presentation, possible complications, or treatment. AG-MED has a dual organization: (1) Conditions are grouped by presenting complaints or primary system involved (A though J) so that the physician can quickly consider a group of conditions common in the agriculturally-exposed worker. (2) If the physician is already considering a specific diagnosis, entries are alphabetically arranged with sequential topic numbers 1 through 35. Each entry contains a brief description of patholphysiology; unique agriculturally relevant features; presenting complaints; differential diagnosis; and specific diagnostic criteria when they are available.
