This issue of Farmworker News contains three articles and features another installment of the comic, "La Familia Chavez." The first article, "Pedro Has Diabetes," describes a day in the life of Pedro, who has diabetes. It describes what diabetes is, its symptoms, ways to avoid diabetes and how to treat it. The following article, "Farmworkers Receive Information About HIV/AIDS," describes the services of "La Frontera" a program in South Texas created to serve the needs of migrant farmworkers infected with HIV/AIDS. It goes on to describe the nature of HIV/AIDS, the work of promotoras, and clears up some misconceptions regarding the transmission of the disease. It also emphasizes the importance of HIV/AIDS testing. The final article, "What is CHIP," describes the program and the services it provides to migrant farmworkers.
