Production agriculture is associated with a variety of occupational illnesses and injuries. Agricultural workers are at higher risks of death or disabling injury than most other workers. Traumatic injury commonly occurs from working with machinery or animals and innovative means of encouraging safe work practices are in need of development and implementation. Efforts are being made to reach all groups of farmworkers, including migrant and seasonal workers, farm youth, and older farmers in order to protect them.
