Author: Mines, Richard
Date Published: 1998

This report describes the current (1997) U.S. farmworker population and traces trends since 1988. It describes current patterns and changing demographics of the farmworker population, touching on the ethnic composition, the age and gender distribution, and the division among immigration and citizenship categories. Major findings include: the farmworker population has become increasingly male, increasingly foreign born, and very young (2/3 under 35); most are poor, and use few social services; and most foreign farmworkers are married and have children.
