Author: Villarejo, Don
Date Published: 1997

WPS is the first comprehensive effort by a federal agency to address occupational health and safety risks associated with field worker's exposure to agricultural chemicals. The new WPS regulations mandate additional safeguards meant to protect farmworkers from injury or illness caused by pesticide exposure. Safety training and the workers' right to know, but when surveyed fewer than one in five California farmworkers knew or had heard of the WPS protections.
