Laboratory and X-Ray Services in Community and Migrant Health Centers

This is a study on laboratory and radiology services in federally-funded community and migrant health centers, with a purpose to provide the Bureau of Health Care Delivery and Assistance with information to aid in the development of policy and guidelines. Ten health centers were visited and literature was also reviewed. The findings show that community and migrant health centers with cost-effective laboratory and x-ray services had effective leadership throughout the health center. Effectiveness was maximized by seeking capital to renovate, structuring for cost control and revenue maximization, recruiting and retain the right people and infusing the entire organization with a commitment to the social mission.
