This paper presents a brief overview of the complexities involved in trying to understand the mental health problems of Mexican American migrant fieldworkers and in developing mental health programs to meet their needs. Consequently the reader should be aware that in a brief paper of this nature any statements will tend to oversimplify and stereotype the migrant. A summary of current research on mental health and the Spanish speaking is discussed along with a Mexican American's outlook on health compared to the Anglo viewpoint.
