Developing a Migrant Childhood Injury Prevention Program : A Guide for Community Clinic Personnel
Author: North County Health Services
The Migrant Childhood Accident Prevention Program (MCAPP) has developed a model targeted accident prevention program for migrant farmworkers which can be implemented in migrant clinics by health educators, community workers and medical providers. This program's approach is primarily that of "active" prevention through motivation of parents to engage in preventive behaviors and to know what to do in the event of an injury. Appropriate targeted accident prevention messages have been developed for those injuries which cause the greatest morbidity or which claim more children's lives.
