This guide will be of use both to pesticide applicators and those involved in assisting or training pesticides applicators, especially State pesticide coordinators and regulatory officials. Personal protective equipment alone will not prevent injury or illness and is only a single component of proper pesticides and emphasized by those providing training in pesticide use. Applicators and trainers should study not only the pesticide label, but also the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The MSDS can be obtained from the pesticide manufacturer and often provides more detailed information then the pesticide label, often provides more detailed information than the pesticide label, concerning appropriate use of personal protective equipment. However, both the label and MSDS often fail to address some very real problems with personal protective equipment.
