Healthy Food Choices for Diabetics: An Extension Short Course or Lesson Series for County Extension Agents

This is a six-lesson series or short course designed to teach diabetics how to successfully plan menus using the six for exchange lists. Topics covered in the series include the following: importance of the diet in the treatment of diabetes; how to use the food exchange lists; what, when, and how much to eat; the reading of labels; the use of mixed dishes and convenience foods; and eating out. Each section is approximately two hours in length. Lessons can be given two per week for three weeks, or one session per week for six weeks.
